I have slacked off on posting here for a couple of reasons. I have less time for it now that I am working, for one thing. The other thing is, I feel more self-consious of what I put out here, and much more aware of how public a forum it is for all this personal information. The original idea was to reach as many as possible so I have no one to blame and shouldn't complain. But suddenly I'm extra aware of the fact that I really have no idea or control over who is reading this.
But I think it's important to keep this going as a platform for special needs and disability information, as much as I have time for. Because once in awhile I'll receive an email or a comment from someone who appreciates my candor and honesty and who has been comforted and educated by this blog. Those notes make my day, every single time.
And I frequently see articles and comments in the media that are damaging, misleading, unnecessarily derogatory, or just plain wrong, and I need to try to set those things right, too. For my own boys and for anyone with any sort of disability who just wants to be valued as a person.
