Can you hear it? That's the sound my head is making.
It's like there's a tornado of ideas, plans and responsibilities whirling around up there. I wake up early and would like to go back to sleep but my brain starts going over everything I need to try to get done, and it's hopeless; there's no way I'm getting any more sleep.
I'd clone myself but I don't have time.
Not helpful to the situation is the fact that today is a late-start day at school so Aliza doesn't go in until 10:30, and the boys don't have school today at all. Would it kill them to stick to a regular schedule in December, at least until Christmas break?
I make lists. It helps me keep track of what I want to do and makes me feel accomplished for getting them done. Here's my attempt to pin down everything spinning around in my head right now.
~Go through the secret hiding place of presents, see what I've got so far, start wrapping.
~Go through the 269 emails sitting in my inbox and make sure there's nothing that I promised to do that is still outstanding
~Address the last couple of Christmas cards and get them out in the mail.
~Put up the outdoor Christmas lights, or get Mark to do it, so I can put the bins of decorations back in storage.
~Make the lasagna for a little Christmas party I'm having on Saturday with my college gang, along with some kind of dessert, probably peanut butter balls.
~Get the gifts together for the party on Saturday.
~Plan something fun for the kids to do at the party while the adults are hanging out. Make a plan for the boys so they are okay with the fact that there are a dozen other people in the house. Keep them from being too anxious about it.
~Finish the forms I need to fill out for the boys' recent evaluations.
~Finish my online registration to Weight Watchers. Start to actually track what I'm eating instead of just hoping each day that I managed to stay under my allotted points.
~Update my calendar with everything that is going on at Aliza's school in the next few weeks; a singalong and a book exchange, and I think there's one or two more things.
~Speaking of school, I need to get the gifts organized for all the kids' teachers and therapists.
~Complete my Norwex order and turn it in, so it can be ordered.
~Do my football picks for the week. This one has to be done today.
~Finish up the slideshow for the Mothers of Multiples holiday party next Tuesday.
~Start the News for Networking newsletter for ARC. I'm not even sure of the deadline for that one yet but it might be before New Years.
~make a few more changes to the survey I am sending out to the public shoppers of the Used Clothing & Equipment Sale, send it out.
~But before I can do that I need to finish inputting all the emails from the last couple of sales into the email account. There's a stack of maybe 100 of them.
~Prepare for the boys' IEP meeting tomorrow morning.
~Breathe.
~Exhale.
~Drink more coffee.

Ugh. Start with the coffee. Cross off Weight Watchers. And then go one at a time. That's what I'm doing.
